Synthesis, Characterization, and Comparison of Pure Zinc Oxide and Magnesium-Doped Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles and their Application on Ethanol Sensing Activities

In this study, we reported the synthesis of pure ZnO and Mg-doped (Mg-ZnO) nanoparticles by simple co-precipitation method studied ethanol sensing activity synthesized nanostructures. XRD analysis illustrates that (NPs) possess hexagonal wurtzite structure average crystallite size is calculated to be 29 nm 33 nm, respectively. The FT-IR spectra NPs confirm presence bands appeared near 400 cm-1 for Zn-O at 622 can attributed Mg-O stretching modes. band gap energy estimated from absorption Mg-ZnO NPs, respectively, 3.26 eV 3.32 eV, displays considerable optical property. Further, observed UV-Vis spectroscopic data exhibits high absorbance in UV range prepared samples. SEM images clearly display needle-like morphology Dynamic light scattering shows particle 110 nm. measurements were carried out with 100 ppm concentration, linear responses NPs-based sensors are detected working temperature 350°C. obtained results demonstrated nanostructures have improved conductivity larger active surface area most promising application activity.
